How to install a straight stroke pneumatic actuator?
Date:2025-09-27 12:00:00 Author:瑞安市金科流体设备有限公司

The installation of straight-stroke pneumatic actuators should follow strict steps and precautions to ensure their efficient and stable operation. The following is a detailed installation guide:

 I. Preparation before installation

 1. Check the cylinder model and status: confirm that the cylinder model matches the valve, and check whether the cylinder is closed (large-caliber valves can also be installed in the open state).

 2. Check the rotation direction of the cylinder: counterclockwise rotation is usually the opening valve, and the clockwise rotation is the closing valve, which needs to be consistent with the direction of the valve.

 3. Check the center distance of the connection hole: ensure that the center distance of the cylinder connection hole is consistent with the center distance of the flange connection hole on the valve, and the size of the shaft should be matched. If it is inconsistent, a square sleeve can be installed.

 4. Clean the air source interface: The air source interface connecting the actuator must be very clean to prevent impurities from entering the cylinder.

 II. Installation steps

 1. Install the sealing ring: install the sealing ring on the card position in the middle of the top of the cylinder.

 2. Install the connecting shaft: Insert the connecting shaft from the bottom of the cylinder, and string the positioning block before inserting the connecting shaft into the top of the cylinder. Install the sealing ring and clamp ring, and fix the connecting shaft.

 3. Installation of piston: There are two sets of piston directions. One is clockwise and counterclockwise, and when turning 180 degrees, it is clockwise and counterclockwise. Install the piston into the cylinder according to the normal direction of use (follow-off and reverse-open).

 4. Adjust the angle of the connecting shaft: adjust the connecting shaft with a wrench, turn the piston out, and make several attempts until the piston is pushed to the bottom. The groove of the connecting shaft is perpendicular to or to the left of the cylinder.

 5. Install positioning screws: Install two positioning screws above the side of the cylinder, one for the open position and the other for the closing position. After installation, check whether the connecting shaft can rotate. If it cannot rotate, it means that the angle of the positioning block in the cylinder is wrong and needs to be readjusted. The adjustment method is: loosen the fixing screw 180 degrees, turn the connecting shaft, push the piston, and then tighten the positioning screw.

 6. Install the side cover: Note that the gasket on the cylinder cannot be dropped. If it falls, it will cause the cylinder to leak. There is an O-ring on the side cover, which plays a sealing role. Cover the side cover, install the fixing screws and tighten them.

 7. Install the air source connector: wrap the tape clockwise at the thread, and the two holes are the air inlet of the switch valve. When opening the valve air inlet, turn off the valve air inlet to exhaust; when closing the valve air inlet, open the valve air inlet to exhaust, and the two correspond to each other.

III. Selection of installation method

 1. Direct installation: It is suitable for the condition that the bottom size of the actuator is the same as the flange size and shaft square size on the valve body. Insert the spindle of the valve directly into the octagonal shaft hole at the bottom of the actuator and fix them together through the flange on the valve and the bolt hole at the bottom of the actuator.

 2. Bracket adapter installation: It is suitable for the installation size of the valve body without an installation platform or the installation platform with the valve body and the installation size of the pneumatic actuator under special circumstances. The installation of the bracket arrover shaft can also play a role in heat dissipation for the actuator under the condition of high-temperature medium. When installing, first fix the bracket to the valve body with bolts, then put the rotating shaft on the valve stem, and then insert the other end of the rotating shaft into the octagonal hole at the bottom of the pneumatic actuator. Pay attention to the position of the bracket. The bolt hole of the bracket should be aligned with the bottom of the pneumatic actuator to install the flange hole, and finally screwed to fix it.

IV. Install a solenoid valve (according to demand)

 1. Check the O-ring: When installing the solenoid valve, pay attention to whether the O-ring on the solenoid valve is intact.

 2. Installation and debugging: After installing the solenoid valve, ventilation to see if the valve is fully closed, otherwise remove the solenoid valve and rotate it 180 degrees for reinstallation (it is fully closed after installation without special requirements). Use the manual switch on the solenoid valve for debugging to see whether the full opening and closing position of the valve are in place. If the stroke needs to be adjusted, the method is consistent with the above positioning screw adjustment.

 V. Install a returner (according to demand)

 1. Insert the connecting shaft: Remove the screw on the indicator cover at the upper end of the cylinder, insert the returner connection shaft into the groove of the middle shaft of the cylinder, and then fix the connecting bolt.

 2. Check the travel block: Open the upper cover of the returner and check whether the travel block corresponds to the valve switch. When the valve is fully opened, the yellow block presses down the switch, and when the valve is fully closed, the red block presses down the switch.

VI. Debugging and testing

 1. Test opening: connect the air source and test opening. When the groove of the connecting shaft is not parallel to the cylinder, it means that it is overheaded. Disconnect the air source, adjust the opening screw above the cylinder, rotate inward, and tighten the fixing screw after adjustment.

 2. Test position: When testing position, when the connecting shaft groove is not perpendicular to the cylinder, it means that the position needs to be adjusted. Tighten the closing screw above the cylinder and tighten the fixing screw after adjustment. After adjustment, test whether the position of the connection shaft between the closing position and the opening position is correct.

VII. Installation Precautions

 1. Ensure the same direction: When installing, the cylinder should be consistent with the state of the valve. One should not be open and the other closed, otherwise the valve will rotate in the opposite direction.

 2. Avoid relying on heavy objects: Do not rely on valves to support other heavy objects, and do not stand on the valve.

 3. Regular lubrication: The thread part of the valve stem should be wiped frequently, and the lubricant that has been stained by the dust should be replaced with a new one, because the dust contains hard debris, which is easy to wear the thread and the surface of the valve stem, affecting the service life.

 4. Keep the air source dry and clean: keep the air source dry and clean in use to prevent the conductor from entering the cylinder and affecting the normal operation of the pneumatic device.

 5. Regular inspection and maintenance: regularly dust and maintain the surface of the device, and check it regularly.
